Finally Slowing Down For The Holiday

Wow! The past few weeks have been absolutely incredible, but also insane. I wanted to check in and explain a few things to come based on the past few weeks of travel. There are several hotel reviews and trip reports which I need to complete, but due to a demanding work schedule (I have a day job) I have been unable to write.

Milwaukee, WI

In early November work sent me to Milwaukee, WI where I was lucky enough to stay a night at the Milwaukee Marriott West hotel. The hotel was a full service Marriott, but beyond the lobby the hotel seemed dated.

Nashville, TN

Following my week in Milwaukee, on November 11th (Veterans Day) we drove from Chicago to Nashville, TN. We were in Nashville specifically for the Green Bay Packers game and round trip flights were ridiculously expensive. Luckily through my Company’s travel agent I was able to rent a one-way rental car from Hertz for just $90 (plus $20 for gas). We spent the weekend in an AirBnB in Nashville and explored various bars/restaurants around Nashville. The Packers game was on Sunday in the Nissan Stadium and featured a helicopter flyover for Veterans Day.

The following Monday we flew from Nashville (BNA) to Chicago (ORD) via Dallas (DFW) on American Airlines. I specifically built in a long layover in Dallas to explore the various Admirals Clubs and American Express Centurion Lounge.

Dallas, TX

On Tuesday morning I returned to DFW airport for a short week of meetings in downtown Dallas. While in Dallas we attended an outing at TopGolf which was a ton of fun. I again spent much of my last day in Dallas exploring the airport and FINALLY visiting DFW’s A Concourse Admirals Club which features “fitness center.”

Minneapolis, MN

After an all too short weekend at home in Chicago I was back on the road. On Sunday I was forced to take an interesting series of flights (ORD-MSP-STL-MSP) to arrive at the Hotel Minneapolis for the night. The next night I was able to stay at one of my favorite hotels (so far) the Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel, The Depot. Then it was back on a flight to St. Louis for the holidays.

Final Thoughts

I love being on the road, but after a while it is nice to finally be in one location for a few days. With the Citi Prestige dropping Admirals Club access in 2017 I was able to visit a few Admirals Clubs along the way and able to sample some of the incredible food offered at the Centurion Lounge in DFW. Lastly, the series of flights on Delta finally gave me enough segments to qualify for Delta Medallion Gold Status for 2017 thanks to my ongoing Status Challenge. Hopefully I will be able to sit down a focus on the site for the next few days and get all of the above trip reports written. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I almost forgot about the World Series and the World Series Victory Parade. Although I am not personally a Cubs fan, it was an exciting time to be living in Wrigleyville.
