Upcoming Travel: 1st Quarter 2017

Well, 2017 is off to a great start so far. Last year there was so much uncertainty with my job and in my life I was simply unable to make travel a priority. Even so, I managed to fly 60 segments, but only flew around 35,000 miles… This year I decided to make traveling, especially internationally, a priority.

January 2017: Overall, the first month of the year should be fairly tame. I am currently in Omaha, NE for work and will most likely have to go back to Minneapolis, MN before the end of the month for a few days.

February 2017: February should be a very busy month. Right away I have to head home for a weekend, the following weekend a group of friends and I are heading to Breckinridge, CO for a ski bachelor party, and then I will finally have the pleasure of flying on the Airbus A380 from Los Angeles to London! For the London trip I tried to book into a “special fare” code using a credit card travel portal, but still do not know if I was successful. I also have to get to/from Los Angeles from Chicago and hope to fly Virgin America if the price is right.

March 2017: Things will slow down for a few weeks as my travel becomes a little more local, but the month will end with my girlfriend and I flying from Chicago to Paris via DFW on AA’s new 789 in Premium Economy.

For now, those are my only solid plans. I want to avoid being to specific as to dates and times since I have heard horror stories of joksters canceling itineraries, etc. Later in the year I hope to plan at least one more international trip (Asia), in either Premium Economy or Business Class to attain my AAdvantage Elite status goal (Platinum Pro).

I tend to be very spontaneous with my travels based on if the airfare makes sense. I am looking forward to new adventures in 2017 and hope I am finally able to make an honorable run toward AAdvantage Elite Status this year.
