Best ‘Free’ Bathroom In Denver International Airport

Best ‘Free’ Bathroom In Denver International Airport

One of the few things I hate about traveling is the public restrooms. Restrooms (lavatories) in airplanes are absolutely disgusting and I try to avoid them whenever possible. Airport terminal bathrooms usually much better than those found on the plane. Overall, I try to make sure to use the restroom before leaving for the airport to avoid this issue.

I find the restrooms at Denver International Airport are especially dirty and congested. As the airport continues to see more and more traffic annually the facilities are continually in use. Every time I fly out of Denver International Airport I can’t help but notice how terrible and crowded the post security restrooms are. Luckily there is one restroom which stands out. As George Costaza would say, this part of the Denver International Airport has “excellent facilities.”

Denver International Airport Terminal A Lounge(s)

Denver International Airport is full of surprises and hidden passage ways. Many believe it’s actually an international doomsday shelter, but we’ll skip that for now. One of the lesser known passage ways is the bridge between the Jappesen Terminal and Terminal A. At the end of that bridge is another, often empty, security checkpoint. As I mostly fly American Airlines out of Terminal A I almost exclusively use this checkpoint.

Most passengers don’t realize the bridge exists thanks to the layout of the main terminal. The main terminal security checkpoints are located in the center of the main terminal. Most passengers see this area and head downstairs to wait in the ever growing lines. Post security, passengers head lower to the underground train which transports passengers from the main terminal to Terminals A, B, and C.

Anyway, shortly after clearing security and cross the bridge passengers come to a folk in the walkway. The fork directs passengers to either gates A1-A39 or A40-A99. Instead of heading left or right, by continuing straight you’ll run into the airline lounges. Currently the space is occupied by a Delta SkyClub, a USO, and an Admirals Club. Each of the lounges occupies their own space, but each reside behind a central door. With the door closed the lounges look cutoff from the outside world, but when opened they reveal a lone, unoccupied, check-in desk. I assume the entire space was a single lounge at one point or another. However, the space is now comprised of several lounges and the main check-in desk remains useless.

Accessing The Cleanest Restroom In Denver International Airport

During my recent visits to the Denver Airport I’ve found the main doors to the airline lounges open, but if closed, feel free to proceed into the space above. At this point you won’t come into contact with any lounge agents and the area is open to the public.

Next, turn right and head down the hallway to the Admirals Club / British Airways Lounges (one in the same).

As you walk toward the Admirals Club entrance, you’ll find the mens restroom. For reference, the restroom door is about where the overhead sign sits. Once inside you’ll find yourself in an restroom oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the main terminal.

While the urinals and stalls are nothing to write home about, the sinks and common space is wonderful. From my experience the restroom is cleaned often and I’ve never seen it too dirty.

Final Thoughts

While I realize this entire post is somewhat tongue and cheek, it’s honestly something I think many will find useful. I find the Denver Airport’s restroom situation is often intolerable so it’s nice to know there is a cleaner public space available if you need to change, shave, brush your teeth, or clean up. I don’t know of any lounges in Terminal A with shower suites so this restroom is the next best thing I suppose. Now, back to your regularly scheduled programing.
