A few weeks ago Chase officially killed the online sign-up bonus of 100,000 points for the Chase Sapphire Reserve. Although the online offer was reduced to just 50,000 points, new applicants could still receive the 100,000 point offer by visiting a Chase branch and applying in person. This Sunday, March 12th, the 100,000 in person sign-up bonus also comes to an end. This weekend is the last chance to apply for the Chase Sapphire Reserve and earn the 100,000 sign-up bonus!
Why You Should Apply For The Chase Sapphire Reserve Now!
Chase Sapphire Reserve points are worth $0.015/point when redeemed on travel through Chase Travel Rewards. If you sign-up now and receive the 100,000 points, the value of the sign-up bonus worth at least $1,500! Applying online or missing this in branch opportunity costs $750 worth of guaranteed value because the sign-up bonus drops to just 50,000 points.
Are 50,000 Points Still A Good Deal?
I’ve written about this before, but I do think the 50,000 sign-up bonus is still worthwhile. The Chase Sapphire Reserve card offers incredible Ultimate Rewards points earning potential through bonus category spending. At face value the $450 seems steep, but factor in the $300 in annual travel credits and the effective annual fee drops to just $150. The Chase Sapphire Preferred has an annual fee of $95, but does not offer Priority Pass lounge access or the increased Ultimate Rewards point value. For that reason alone I think the Chase Sapphire Reserve is worth applying for.
Final Thoughts
If you are remotely considering the Chase Sapphire Reserve make sure to visit a Chase Branch over the weekend to apply for the card. Make sure to confirm the banker is offering the 100,000 sign-up bonus when applying. Prior to submitting your application the customer service representative should explicitly state that you are getting the 100,000 point sign-up bonus offer. Remember, applications must be submitted prior to the end of day on March 12, 2017!
