A few months ago I decided to upload my collection of boarding passes into the Flight Memory website. For those who haven’t heard of Flight Memory, the website is a place where users can save their flights. The website stores data such as the airline flown, flight number, seat, aircraft, flight time, etc. Once you log all of that data into the website you can view your “statistics” such as distance traveled, time in the air, and airports visited. It’s a pretty fun way to keep track of where you’ve been throughout the years.
In the past I’ve been pretty good about loading flights into flight memory immediately after I take them. However, recently I’ve been letting my old boarding passes pile up again. Finally, after about two or three months I’ve decided it’s time to log my recently flights and wow I can’t believe how much I’ve traveled over the past few months.
To give you an idea of just how many miles I’ve covered in the first half of this year, this is my flight memory as of December 2018.
My Updated Flight Memory
The above statistics were as of December 9, 2018. Below are my flight statistics as of today, April 29, 2019.
As you can see, I’ve covered a ton of ground from late 2019 through April 2019. In fact, Flight Memory allows you to filter by year, so I can see exactly how many miles I’ve flown.
So far this year I’ve flown at least 73,105 miles! That’s about 144 hours in the air or about 6 days. To put all of that into perspective, in 2015, for the entire year, I flew just 50,000 miles and I was on the road about every other week.
Final Thoughts
I really enjoy logging flights into My Flight Memory because it allows me to look at back at all the distance I’ve covered each year. It’s been especially fun this year because I’ve been lucky enough to travel a ton already.
What’s even wilder is that I still have a lot of flying to go. Just next weekend I’ll cover another 18,000 miles or so and have another trip of about 18,000 miles booked later in the year. I also would like to book at least one trip to Europe and perhaps make it to back to Doha. Last year I flew a total of 125,000 miles and this year I wouldn’t be surprised if I eclipsed 150,000 miles.
