Review: Lufthansa A321 Business Class Frankfurt To Stockholm

Review: Lufthansa A321 Business Class Frankfurt To Stockholm

This flight technically began in the incredible Lufthansa First Class Terminal. I could access the terminal as I was connecting from my Lufthansa First Class flight from Chicago to Frankfurt. One of the things that I love most about the First Class Terminal is that you don’t have to worry about your departure time. When it was time for me to board the flight to Stockholm, a Lufthansa agent greeted me and escorted me down to the departures area.

From there I got in the stunning Porsche Panamera Hybrid where the driver drove me to the connecting gate.

There’s nothing quite as cool as being driven around an airport to a connecting flight. I maybe blacked out a bit from excitement.

After a shorter than desired drive we arrived at my departing gate where I stepped out of the car and had the opportunity to see the Airbus A321 which would take me to Stockholm.

After pausing for a few seconds to take a photo of our aircraft my driver escorted me up the stairs to the Jet-Bridge to board the aircraft.

As I walked toward the aircraft I was able to snap another photo of the A321 from the glass Jet-Bridge.

Once onboard I discovered a traditional intra-Europe business class cabin. Unlike US carriers, business class on European carriers is just a traditional economy seat with the middle seat blocked off.

European carriers do this because of the flexibility. Cabin crews can move the rear curtain forward or backward based on how many tickets the airline sells. While this is great for the airlines it certainly isn’t great for customers. Especially US customers who have come to expect larger seats and extra leg room.

Toward the forward galley there was a large Lufthansa plaque to remind customers that they are flying with Lufthansa.

Also, on the forward bulkhead there was a “Lufthansa Business Class” plaque to remind business class passengers that they weren’t simply in an economy seat with an empty middle seat.

As you can tell, business class on the Lufthansa Airbus A321 is nothing to write home a blog about.

I was among the last customers to board the aircraft, but to my knowledge pre-departure beverages were not offered or served. However, a few minutes after taking off in-flight beverage services began. As I had already had several alcoholic beverages on my Lufthansa First Class flight and a few at the First Class Terminal, I decided to stick with soft-drinks and water.

I first ordered a glass of coke which arrived in a Lufthansa branded glass. The flight attendants poured all beverages in the forward galley before serving the drinks to each customers’ seat.

After about an hour in the air the unexpected in-flight meal service began. I didn’t expect a meal service as the flight was only 2 hours.

Although the in-flight meal doesn’t look all that appealing the food was quite tasty. I especially loved the dessert which was a fruit and cream dish.

After the meal services concluded the flight attendants stopped by each customers seat to pass out a survey card so passengers could go on-line and rate the flight.

Final Thoughts

As you can see, flying intra-Europe Lufthansa Business Class isn’t all that exciting. I only flew business class as it was included in my Lufthansa First Class award flight from Chicago to Stockholm. There is no way I would have paid extra to fly intra-Europe Business Class otherwise. However, I can’t complain as I got a “free” meal which meant I could hit the ground running once we landed in Stockholm.

Overall, as I mentioned, I wouldn’t go out of my way to fly Lufthansa intra-Europe Business Class, but I certainly would do it again if it’s included in an award flight itinerary.
